Working for the Weekend
Chantelle Deacon - Jul 5, 2018
In early September the puck will drop at a Vernon Vipers hockey game signifying the opening of the new ice sheet at Kal Tire Place North.
Thousands of Vernonites are expected to attend the three-day event called 'A Community... Working for the Weekend.'
"We're kicking it off with the Vipers home opener against Wenatchee Wild and CFI is bringing in Loverboy and Platinum Blonde for an arena rock show on Saturday," said Calvin Cane, CFI Productions. "We are leaving the stage behind and we're going to be inviting local bands and local entertainers to fill the place in recognition of the new ice surface at Kal Tire Place."
"I think Vernon has always had a strong sense of community and I think over the last few years a lot of the entertainment has gone south. What we're really trying to do is bring quality entertainment back to Vernon."
The event kicks off on Friday, Sept. 7 and runs until Sunday, Sept. 9.
On Sunday everyone is welcome to the area for a free event, featuring local entertainers, vendors and artisans.
Tickets are available for the Saturday event ticketseller.ca.
