Broken leg sidelines former Viper fan favourite

Nov 04, 2019

The professional career of former Vernon Vipers captain Jagger Williamson, got off an unfortunate start.

The 21-year-old forward suffered a broken leg in the first game of the season for the Columbus (Georgia) River Dragons against the Delaware Thunder in the Federal Prospects Hockey League.

The incident happened Oct. 25.

“He is out indefinitely as of this time, but remains in Columbus right now and in good spirits,” said Zak DeBeaussaert, VP of communications for the River Dragons.

“As he was taking a hit, it looked like he stepped on the puck and landed awkwardly as the hit finished,” added DeBeaussaert.

Williamson, who grew up in Lumby, was a fan favourite during his five seasons with the Vipers.
